Ask our Product Expert: Are there low volume inserts for microcentrifuge tubes (1.5 mL)?

We received an inquiry via Twitter from a scientist in Massachusetts:

I'm wondering if anyone makes a low volume insert for [1.5 mL microfuge] tubes. We're currently analyzing samples of aqueous humor, and we work with very small volumes (10-60 uL). We typically use PCR tubes for this, but they're difficult to handle and write on. We have a lot of samples (about 300 total, and we analyze 20-30 at a time).  A standard microfuge tube would be much easier to handle.

We assigned Raudel (our senior PhD and Product Expert) the research project and here are options he came up with:I would confront the same problem, at times, while working in the lab. Unfortunately, to the best of my knowledge, no one sells a specific insert, in the sample volume range of a PCR tube, for 1.5 mL microfuge tubes. That said, you have two options:First, you can purchase skirted tubes that are suitable for volumes that one would use in a standard 0.5 mL PCR tube. These are great, if you are going to store samples in a freezer.
